Some suggestions from us...

  • Feijoada - A hearty bean stew typically made with pork, beans, cured meats, vegetables, and herbs.
  • Caldeirada - A flavorful fish stew prepared with potatoes, peppers, onions, tomatoes, olive oil, and herbs.
  • Porco à Alentejana - Pork with clams. This delightful combination of meat and seafood is a classic you'll find often in Portuguese cuisine.
  • Cataplana - Inspired by Arab alchemists, this traditional copper pan is considered the ancestor of the pressure cooker. Many recipes, especially seafood, are perfectly cooked in it.
  • Oysters from the Atlantic - In the Algarve, oysters take between one and one-and-a-half years to fully mature. They are a true delicacy, particularly enjoyed in Olhão, Tavira, Culatra, and Cacela Velha.
  • Bacalhau - Cod fish. There are as many recipes for bacalhau as there are days in the year.
  • Torta de Laranja - A simply delicious orange cake made only with juice, eggs, and sugar.
  • Bolo de Amêndoa - Traditional almond cake, rich and flavorful.
